This course includes our Safety Harness - Level 1 (Basic) as each delegates attending this course must be able to carry out a pre-use inspection of a full body harness/lanyard, and to correctly fit/adjust it. Therefore, each delegate will be aware of the difference between Work Positioning, Fall Arrest and Fall Restraint, and the common hazards associated with the use of Personal Fall Protection Equipment and Working at Height in general. In addition, this course is designed to enable each delegate to select, setup, inspect and use the following range of rescue/evacuation equipment.

  • 'Gotcha' Assent and Descent rescue system.
  • Descent only rescue system.(Tandem Rescue System)
  • Lightweight Emergency Descent Control System.(Auto Decender)

 

Suitable for:

All those, beit individuals or from an organisation who are involved in planning, carrying out, supervising and managing rescues from height in the work place.

 

 Course Content:

The course covers the following areas:

  • Safety Legislation, Work at Height Regulations
  • Accident Statisics
  • Hazards and Risks
  • Fall Prevention, Fall Restraint, Fall Protection & Fall Arrest
  • Harness Types and Design Standards
  • Component Parts of a Fall Arrest System (The A,B,C,D & E)
  • Identifying correct Tie-Off and Anchor Points
  • Pre-Use Inspection of Harness & Lanyard with Practical Exercise
  • Correct Wearing and Fitting of Harness with Practical Exercise
  • Harness/Lanyard Storage, Care and Cleaning
  • Rescue Provision Requirements
  • Hazard Analysis & Risk Assessment
  • Requirements for rescue (Work at Height Regulations 2005).
  • Contents of rescue systems
  • Site considerations (anchor points, drop zones, general observations)
  • Pre-use inspections & function checks (including practical session)
  • Setting up of equipment (including practical session)
  • Using equipment for evacuation and rescue (including practical session)

 

Training Methods:

Training presentation, printed course material, practical demonstrations and hands-on
exercises in inspecting, checking, setting up and using evacuation and rescue
equipment using our specially built rescue training tower.

 

PPE requirements:

Trainees should provide their own safety footwear.

 

Health & Fitness requirements:

Trainees should be physically fit and healthy to participitate in the rescue practical training and assessment.

 

Number of Delegates:

The course is designed for up to 6 delegates at any one time

Duration:

Full Day – typically 7-8 hours

Certification:

This course is accredited by Kentec Training, and each candidate who successfully completes the course will recieve a Kentec Training Photo ID Card and Certificate.
