PASMA Standard Tower Course - On Site

 


We can provide the PASMA Standard Mobile Access Tower course at your own premises or site provided that suitable facilities, equipment and conditions are available.

The PASMA Standard Operator's Course is designed to instruct up to a maximum of 12 candidates, and is aimed at on site trainng room may 07anyone in your organisation who assemble, alter, dismantle, move, inspect, tag, report on and most importantly use Alloy or Fibreglass Mobile Access Towers. We require a minimum of 4 candidates for On-Site courses.


This PASMA course is aimed at operators of mobile access towers manufactured in aluminium alloy or fibreglass, approved to BS EN 1004 : 2004 and which carry a current British Standard or other equivalent mark of approval.The 'On Site' course criteria and requirements that are listed below are set out by PASMA and represent the minimum acceptable facilities to deliver on site training at your premises or site:

Training Room: 

The Training Room must have sufficient space for up to 12 candidates (or the number of candidates you wish to be instructed plus instructor and presentation equipment). It should have: 


Tables and Chairs (To comfortably seat each candidate to allow note taking and theory test)


Training Room should be free from environmental disturbance (noise / interruptions / dust etc)


A comfortable ambient temperature must be maintainable with in the Training Room.


The Training Room should be within easy reach of Toilets and Welfare Facilities.


Fire Escapes, Alarms and any other site arrangements should be clearly signed and the Instructor made aware of any planned Fire Alarm Drills.


A good 240v electrical supply must be available with in the Training Room.


Refreshments:


Refreshments and eating arrangements should be made available nearby for the candidates and instructor.


Mobile Access Tower For Practical Training and Assessment


We will provide a suitable Mobile Aluminium Tower to allow the practical training and assessment to be completed at a cost of £50.00 + vat. Our Training Towers are checked and certified to BS EN 1004:2004. Our Towers are provided with sufficient components to assembly a tower to a minimum platform height of 4.2m using the 3T (through the trap) method (Advanced Guardrail available on request). A copy of the current Manufacturers Instruction Manual (MIM) for the On-Site Tower using the 3T method will be provided.

If you wish to use your own Tower for the practical accessment and training, please contact us for details of the requirements. Please remember to have the make and model of your Tower available.

You will need to provide a suitable area for the practical training and assessment to be completed:

Indoor Area - with a ceiling height of 6.2m Minimum (to accommodate a 4.2m Platform Tower)


Outdoor Area - weather permitting (A Course may be delayed, postponed or even cancelled if only outdoor training facilities are available and weather conditions, in the opinion of the Instructor, are too hazardous to continue)


There should be a sufficient and safe area cordoned off for the exclusive use of the Instructor and Delegates during the practical training.(At least 6m x 6m)


The training area must be free from overhead hazards (e.g. Electrical)


The surface of the training area must be reasonable level and firm enough to support the Mobile Alloy Tower safely.


The training area should be free from both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.


PPE / Safety Equipment


All Delegates must have Safety Helmet, Hi-Vis, Gloves and Safety Footwear for the Practical Training


We will provide each delegate with a PASMA Tower Inspection Record/Tag so that upon their return to site they can carry out the required Assembly, Inspection and Reporting required under the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

Additional Tags are available to purchase in kit form directly through our on line shopping site.


Car Parking


Our Instructor will arrive on site with a Laptop Computer, Projector, Mobile Projector Screen, Course Material, Samples etc and will therefore, need to park close to the training room and practical training area.


Please provide secure parking for our Instructor's Car and Trailer.


If no on site parking facilities are available, the Instructor will require assistance in off loading and loading his vehicle and directions to a nearby public car park. Car Park fees will be added to your Invoice along with Congestion Charges, where applicable.

Please ensure that all delegates arrive in good time to start the course at the agreed time. Our normal course start time is 8.30am with a 15 minute mid morning refreshment break followed by a 30 minute lunch break at approximately 12.30pm. We always aim to finish the course by 4.30pm at the latest, but this is dependant upon the amount of candidates on the course. 

Delegate Abilities

All delegates must be reasonably literate, have a comprehension of English language and have no physical disabilities that would preclude them from being considered competent in the assembly, alteration and dismantling of Mobile Access Towers.

Please Note: All delegates will be required (In groups of up to 4 persons) to assist in the assembly, alteration and dismantling of a 4.2m Mobile Tower. Any delegate who displays a fear of height that would, in the opinion of the Instructor, make them a danger to themselves or others may be failed on the practical assessment.
 
Certification

Upon successfully passing both the written and practical assessment at the end of the course, each delegate's details will be entered on to the PASMA central database and a Certificate of Competency and a Photo-ID Card will be issued.
