Powertool Safety Principles TrainingOur Powertool Safety Principles and Practice Course delivers a minimum of 7 hours of classroom and live practical based instruction and assessment for all operators, managers and supervisors, who as part of their working duties use Powertools in the workplace as defined in PUWER Regulations 1998.

The aim of the course is to enable candidates with limited experience and ability to gain the knowledge and understanding to work safely, understand current legislation and promote awareness of the dangers and hazards of using powertools and to offer practical steps to reduce workplace accidents and encourage workers to adopt a culture that results in a safer workplace.

What Will You Get From The Course

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998

Employers must ‘ensure that all persons who use work equipment have received adequate training for the purposes of health and safety, including training in the methods which may be adopted when using work equipment, and risks which such use may entail and the precautions to be taken.’ (PUWER regulation 9). There is a similar duty to ensure adequate training in relation to supervisory and managerial staff. This course includes the use of a range of Powertools such as:

  • Portable Rotary Hammer & Percussion Drills

On completion of this course, delegates will be able to state the regulations covering the use of work equipment, have a good understanding of the hazards arising from the use of work equipment, precautions to be taken, workplace checks, end-user safety checks, personal checks, machine checks and how machines are guarded. The course will include:
