Our NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational
Health and Safety Course is considered one of the UK’s
most popular and respected health and safety qualifications. Offering extensive
study of the core aspects of occupational health and safety management, including
carrying out accurate risk assessments, developing and implementing detailed
action plans, managing and minimising workplace risks, and developing your
company’s health & safety culture.
This 12-day course also
provides delegates with a comprehensive knowledge of health and safety
legislation and its practical applications to their own workplace environments
– resulting in a real return on investment by minimising workplace injuries and
illness, increasing employee wellbeing and morale, and demonstrates your
company’s commitment to health & safety.
Each topic covered
on the course is intended to prepare delegates for the challenges of real-world
safety management through scenario-based learning and practical exercises;
giving delegates the confidence and competency needed to apply their new health
& safety knowledge to their own roles & responsibilities.
This course consists of several training room lectures,
presentations, an optional revision session, a digitally accessed Open Book
Examination (OBE), an independent Practical Assessment, and a closing
interview.
The NEBOSH National General Certificate in
Occupational Health and Safety Course is ideal for managers, supervisors, and those
with health and safety management responsibilities – regardless of their
industry or sector, as well as anyone looking towards developing a good
foundation on which to build your knowledge on and pursue a career in
occupational health & safety.
Delegates should:
- Have a good understanding of written &
spoken English. If delegates have any problems with English literacy or
language comprehension, they must bring them to the attention of their employer.
- Be able to commit and dedicate their spare time
to study outside of the classroom.

Successful delegates will receive a physical NEBOSH
National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety certificate
accredited by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health
(NEBOSH). There is no expiry date on the certificate – however, we do recommend
that delegates refresh their qualification every 5 years to ensure their
knowledge is kept up to date and relevant.
Certification will only be available once your results have
been released by NEBOSH around 50 working days from the date of the Open Book
Examination (OBE), though this timeline can vary.
The natural progression from the NEBOSH National General
Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Course is the NEBOSH
Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management
Professionals.

Results are released by NEBOSH within 10 – 12 weeks (around 50 working days) after your examination date following the completion of your course. Your certification will then arrive with our support team at Kentec Training around another 10 - 12 weeks after the results have been announced, which we then post onto the address provided.

For learners with disabilities under the Equality Act 2010, reasonable adjustments - like a Braille paper for visually impaired candidates - can be arranged.

If your request falls in line with NEBOSH’s Refund Policy and Procedure, you can apply for a refund from NEBOSH of up to 70% of your examination registration fee. Refund claims must be made within one calendar month following the date of the examination by completing the appropriate refund request form. The refund will then be processed within 30 working days of the request being received and the fee will be refunded by NEBOSH to the original payment method.
‘Block Release’ courses are attended consecutively over sequential days, allowing you to complete the training quickly in a more intense, focused "block" of training. Whereas ‘Day Release’ courses typically run one or two days per week with ample space in-between each session, making it easier to balance your training alongside work and other commitments. Regardless of your chosen learning method, both formats cover the same content and lead to the same qualification. No. As this is a classroom-based course, you are not required to bring any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). For certain training sessions, temporary equipment such as safety harnesses may be provided if required.
