Our NPORS N019 - Report of Thorough Examination - Novice
Course provides delegates with the knowledge and practical skills required to
competently inspect lifting equipment, accessories and attachments. Delegates
will develop a clear understanding of industry hazards, manufacturer
requirements, their responsibilities as a competent person, and relevant
legislation such as the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (L.O.L.E.R).
Delegates will also be able to identify different types of
lifting equipment, interpret technical documentation, carry out and demonstrate
thorough inspections, accurately complete inspection reports, and apply correct
storage, securing and environmental considerations in line with best practice.
In order to attend this course, you must hold a valid UK
Passport or Driving Licence. This will need to be presented to the instructor
on the day. This is a requirement of NPORS.
This course consists of several training room lectures and
presentations, a multiple-choice examination, practical training and assessment.
The NPORS N019 - Report of Thorough
Examination - Novice Course is ideal for those who have a responsibility
for maintaining and inspecting lifting equipment, accessories and attachments,
in compliance with UK regulations and legislation, such as the Lifting
Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (L.O.L.E.R).
Delegates should:
- Have a good understanding of
written & spoken English. If delegates have any problems with English
literacy or language comprehension, they must bring them to the attention of
their employer.
- Hold a valid UK Passport or UK Driving
License. This will need to be presented to the instructor on the day. This is a
requirement of NPORS.
The agenda for the NPORS N019 - Report of Thorough
Examination - Novice Course includes:
- Developing a
basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and
the responsibilities as a competent person carrying out inspections for
lifting equipment, accessories and attachments
- Ensuring
compliance with manufacturers requirements, relevant regulations and
legislation
- Identifying
different types of lifting equipment, accessories and attachments.
- Examining
the basic construction, uses, applications and functions of different types of
lifting equipment, accessories and attachments.
- Interpreting
and extracting key information from all forms of relevant documentation
- Demonstrating
a comprehensive thorough inspection, as well as how to complete a thorough
examination inspection report
- Identifying
environmental considerations (Ground contamination, Debris, Cross contamination,
etc)
- Demonstrating
safe manual handling, securing, and storage procedures
- Multiple-Choice Examination
- Practical Assessment
Successful delegates will receive a NPORS
N019 - Report of Thorough Examination Operators Card accredited by the National
Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS), valid for 3-5 years, depending on
the chosen certification route.
To remain
certified, you will need to take an NPORS N019 - Report of Thorough
Examination - Experienced Worker Test (EWT) prior to the expiry date listed
on your certificate, otherwise the full course will need to be retaken once again.

Yes, in order to attend this course, you must hold a valid UK Driving Licence (or UK Passport) which will need to be presented to your instructor on the first day of your training course. This is a requirement of NPORS.
As most of our NPORS courses involve the practical operation of machinery, you are required to wear PPE during your practical training and assessment, including Safety boots and High-Visibility Clothing. We recommend also wearing safety spectacles and work gloves. Specific requirements will be outlined in your booking confirmation email and joining instructions.
