Course Overview

Our RTITB Rough Terrain Truck Operator Course - Experienced (Telescopic Handler) delivers a minimum of 37.5 hours of instruction and is designed to instruct up to a maximum of 3 delegates, providing training to prepare delegates to use telescopic handlers in the workplace.

Rough Terrain Telehandler Handlers are widely used across the construction and agricultural industry due to their versatile nature and ability to move loads of all shapes and sizes. Last year over 2,000 people completed and passed RTITB rough terrain telescopic handler training and testing and achieved their Certificate of Basic Operator Training, or "licence" as it is often referred to.

Please note that this course can only take place on the client's site.

The RTITB Rough Terrain Telescopic Handler training course is suitable for all those who are familiar with the machine, but have not received formal training in the past and are expected to use these machines in the workplace.

will give you the skills to operate the truck safely and efficiently, carry out a pre-use inspection and recall and explain the causes of truck and load instability.

The course covers, but is not limited to, the following areas;

  • Controls and Instruments
  • Starting/moving/stopping and steering the truck
  • Handling pallets, containers and bulk packs
  • Driving on/off ramps and inclines
  • Principles of operating on rough terrain
  • Loading/unloading and stacking/destacking
  • Free standing and in-racking procedures
