Course Overview

Our NPORS Plant Mover (Non-Operational Duties) Novice Course delivers a minimum of 2 days of instruction depending on the experience of the delegates, up to a maximum of 3 delegates per instructor. This course will provide the delegates with an understanding of their industry, their responsibilities as trained operative and will enable them to prepare, operate, transport and store various plant machinery safely and efficiently.

In order to attend this course, you must hold a valid UK Passport or Driving Licence. This will need to be presented to the instructor on the day. This is a requirement of NPORS.

This course consists of a training room lecture, DVD presentation, written assessment, practical training and assessment.

This course is aimed at those who wish to conduct non-operational plant mover duties and do not have experience with the plant equipment.

Since the operation and inspection of this machinery can be physically demanding, delegates must be fit and able to carry out the tasks required in the course program. A good understanding of spoken and written English is required.

Successful delegates will receive an NPORS Plant Mover (Non-Operational Duties) Card, which is valid for 3-5 years, depending on the chosen certification route.

By the end of the course, the delegates will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:

  • Their industry, the dangers of working in that industry and their responsibilities as an operator
  • Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer's handbook for the particular machine to be used
  • Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
  • Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
  • Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer's and legislative requirements
  • Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for Plant Mover use
  • Prepare machine for use and operate machinery safely and efficiently
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
  • Operate machinery safely and efficiently
  • Environmental considerations
  • Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
