Our Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Principles of COSHH (RQF)
Course provides key knowledge of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health
(COSHH) Regulations. COSHH is a UK law that requires employers to control
substances that are hazardous to health. The course also explores the risks
associated with common hazardous substances which delegates could potentially
come into contact with in the workplace and provides clear guidance on
appropriate control measures.
This course consists of a training room lecture, presentation,
and a multiple-choice examination.
The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in
Principles of COSHH (RQF) Course is ideal for those who work in an environment
with, or are responsible for, hazardous substances, such as: healthcare,
manufacturing, cleaning, transport, utilities and office environments.
Delegates should:
- Have a good understanding of written &
spoken English. If delegates have any problems with English literacy or
language comprehension, they must bring them to the attention of their employer.
- Be at least 16 years old.
The agenda for the Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Safe Moving
and Handling (RQF) Course includes:
- Employers’ and employees’ duties relating to hazardous
substances at work
- Consequences for non-compliance with statutory duties
- Workplace communication of hazardous substances safety
information
- Definitions of ‘hazard’ and ‘risk’ with respect to hazardous
substances
- Different forms of hazardous substances
- Exposure to hazardous substances and its effects
- Routes by which hazardous substances can enter the body
- Risk Assessments and the five-step process
- Control hierarchy in respect of safe use, handling,
transporting, storage and disposal of hazardous substances
- Safe identification and use of hazardous substances
- Handling an emergency incident involving hazardous
substances
Successful delegates will receive a Level 2 Award in
Principles of COSHH (RQF) e-certificate accredited by Qualsafe, valid for a
period of 3 years from the course date.

No. This is a knowledge-based qualification focusing on the principles of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations. There is no practical element to this course.
No. As this is a classroom-based course, you are not required to bring any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). For certain training sessions, temporary equipment such as safety harnesses may be provided if required.
