The NEBOSH Diploma requires a minimum of 243 hours of tutor-led learning and approximately 257 hours of self-directed study. Assessment consists of one three hour written examination.

Another option for individuals is the Diploma in Applied Health and Safety (NCRQ), which is a self-directed study with assignments to be completed within set time parameters. This qualification consists of approximately 380 hours of self-study through workbooks and online activities, with seven short assignments and three longer assignments.
