Our L.A Ladders & Stepladders in the Professional
Utility Sector Course provides training specifically tailored for users of
ladders & stepladders in the utility sector (such Gas, Water, Electricity
or Telecommunications) wanting to equip themselves, their employees or sub-contractors, with the knowledge, skills
and confidence necessary to use ladders and stepladders legally and safely in
the unique context of the utility industry.
Delegates that attend and successfully pass this course can progress to the L.A Ladder & Stepladder Inspection Course.
This course consists of a training room lecture, presentation, multiple-choice assessment, practical training and practical assessment.
This course is aimed at individuals belonging to professional
utility organisations - such as Gas, Water, Electricity or Telecommunications –
that require specialised ladder training on the safe usage, transportation and
pre-use inspection of ladders and step ladders in the professional utility
sectors. For example; ladders manufactured to BS EN 50528.
Delegates should be:
- Have a good understanding of
written & spoken English. If delegates have any problems with English
literacy or language comprehension, they must bring them to the attention of
their employer.
- Be in good
health, physically fit, and comfortable working at height so that they that may
take part in the practical training.
- Within
the 150kg maximum load limit (including body weight, tools, and materials)
as per the revised EN 131 standard.

the legislation, regulations, and duties of all parties involved in Ladder
Safety.
Information: Exploring the current
standards in effect for ladder safety in the professional utilities sector
Equipment: Developing
understanding of the different types of ladders, their components, materials,
and how to perform a pre-use inspection.
Site Task Equipment People (STEP): Planning,
organising, selecting and using different ladders and stepladders in the
utilities sector.

Successful delegates will receive a Ladders &
Stepladders in the Professional Utility Sector e-certificate accredited by
the Ladder Association, valid for a period of 5 years from the course date.
Successful delegates can progress to the L.A Ladder & Stepladder Inspection Course.
