Our PASMA Work at Height (Novice) is the training course you need to get up to speed on the basics of height safety and delivers a minimum of 3 1/2 hours of instruction for a maximum of 12 delegates, providing vital information about the use of mobile access towers, plus an insight into the use of all forms of access equipment as represented by the member organisations of the Access Industry Forum (AIF).
Although it’s a PASMA course, it’s not all about mobile access towers. It covers the whole range of access equipment, thanks to specialist input from our friends in the Access Industry Forum. There is no practical work involved in this course; it’s all classroom-based theory. No hard hats or tower climbing required!
This course consists of a training room lecture, presentation, and a written assessment.
This course is suitable for anyone in an organisation who needs to understand the requirements for those who work on mobile access towers but do not assembly, alter, dismantle or move mobile access towers and are therefore not required to attend the full day PASMA Tower for Users Course, but do have to demonstrate competence and understanding in working at height safely on mobile access towers.
The PASMA Work at Height (WAH) Essentials Course agenda includes:
- The Competent Person
- Health and safety legislation
- Work at Height Regulations
- Guidance on Working at Height
- Details of Industry Training Bodies
Successful delegates will receive a PASMA Work At Height Essentials (Novice) e-certificate, valid for a period of 5 years from the date of the course. All successful delegates can access their e-certification through the free PASMA TowerSure smartphone app, available on both iOS and Android. You will also be able to access your certification on the once your certificate number is issued.
They will gain a broad understanding of current legislation and best practices for any work at height, including details of all the various accrediting bodies within the Access Industry Forum (AIF).

As most of our PASMA courses involve an element of practical work at height, you are required to wear PPE during your practical training and assessment, including Safety boots, Safety helmet with a Chin Strap, and High-Visibility Clothing. Specific requirements will be outlined in your booking confirmation email and joining instructions.
PPE can be purchased from Reception at our Tonbridge & Ashford Training Centres. We provide all necessary course materials, including manuals and training equipment for practical assessments.
To begin, search for the TowerSure App in the Apple Store for iOS or Google Play for Android and download it to your smartphone. TowerSure is available for all new and existing PASMA card holders in all countries where our qualifications are issued.
Next, register for an account - making sure to use the exact same first name and last name that you provided our instructor on the course. Also, be sure to enter your PASMA certificate number, which will be provided to you (or the person who booked the training) upon successfully completing the course.
Once you’re logged in, hit the profile icon in the top right corner of your app to see your virtual card. For further support, speak to a member of our support team on 0333 666 0555.
