This course is aimed at personnel who are or will be involved in work at height using personal fall protection equipment and will be responsible for rescue and retrieval of casualties after arrested falls using safety harnesses, lanyards and associated P.F.P.E (Personal Fall Protection Equipment) in the work place.
As the course includes the Harness Safe Use & Inspection Course, there are no prerequisites for this course, however a working knowledge and experience of fall protection equipment and a good head for heights is essential.
The use of Rescue and Evacuation equipment with Safety Harnesses requires that you comply with regulations and industry standards and read and thoroughly understand the manufacturer’s instruction manual, therefore literacy and language comprehension are important requirements for all WAH Rescue personnel attending this course.
Similarly, since the inspection, operation and use of WAH Rescue and Evacuation equipment can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights / vertigo, giddiness / difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.
Delegates will gain an understanding of current relevant legislation and be able to use a variety of rescue descent devices safely, in line with current approved methods and manufacturer’s instructions.
At the end of the theory session, delegates will take a short multiple choice test. If delegates successfully pass the test, they will then move onto the practical assessment, where they will have to rescue a training dummy using both the GOTCHA Rescue System and the IKAR GB Rescue System.
Successful delegates will receive a Kentec E- Certificate of Training, valid for 3 Years.
Each delegate will be aware of the difference between Work Positioning, Fall Arrest and Fall Restraint 'Gotcha' Assent and Descent Rescue System and the common hazards associated with the use of Personal Fall Protection Equipment and Working at Height in general. In addition, this course is designed to enable each delegate to competently select, setup, inspect and use the following range of commonly used rescue/evacuation equipment:
