This course is for operational site use which is aimed at those who will be required to work with underslung telehandler lifting equipment. The Experienced Worker Test (EWT) is aimed at those who have experience using telescopic handlers. It is recommended that the delegate has at least two years experience on the equipment.
Since the inspection, operation and use of a variety of lifting accessories and equipment can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health. A good understanding of spoken and written English is required.
Successful delegates will be issued with a relevant NPORS Operators Card which is valid for 3-5 years, depending on the chosen certification route.
Important Information: All delegates must bring photo identification, this can include a valid Passport or Driving Licence.
By the end of the course, the delegates will be bale to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of your industry, the dangers of working in your industry and their responsibilities as underslung operator
- Have a working knowledge LOLER, PUWER and other lifting related regulations for the particular use of lifting equipment and accessories to be used
- Be able to identify the accessories and explain their functions
- Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions in terms of lifting
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for underslung use
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
- Operate as a underslung operator safely and efficiently
- Be able to establish effective communication methods
- Transport and land underslung loads
- Environmental considerations
- Carry out all end of shift checks and storage of accessories
