Course Overview

Our PASMA Work at Height (Novice) is the training course you need to get up to speed on the basics of height safety and delivers a minimum of 3 1/2 hours of instruction for a maximum of 12 delegates, providing vital information about the use of mobile access towers, plus an insight into the use of all forms of access equipment as represented by the member organisations of the Access Industry Forum (AIF).

Although it’s a PASMA course, it’s not all about mobile access towers. It covers the whole range of access equipment, thanks to specialist input from our friends in the Access Industry Forum. There is no practical work involved in this course; it’s all classroom-based theory. No hard hats or tower climbing required!

This course consists of a training room lecture, DVD presentation, and a written assessment.

This course is suitable for anyone in an organisation who needs to understand the requirements for those who work on mobile access towers but do not assembly, alter, dismantle or move mobile access towers and are therefore not required to attend the full day PASMA Tower for Users Course, but do have to demonstrate competence and understanding in working at height safely on mobile access towers.

Successful delegates will receive a PASMA Work At Height Essentials (Novice) e-certificate and physical photo ID card, valid for a period of 5 years from the date of the course. All successful delegates can also access their e-certification through the free PASMA TowerSure smartphone app, available on iOS and Android.

They will gain a broad understanding of current legislation and best practices for any work at height, including details of all the various accrediting bodies within the Access Industry Forum (AIF).

The PASMA Work at Height (WAH) Essentials Course agenda includes:

  • The Competent Person
  • Health and safety legislation
  • Work at Height Regulations
  • Guidance on Working at Height
  • Details of Industry Training Bodies
